Michael L. Dunn, a registered patent attorney, has been practicing intellectual property law since 1968 in essentially all technical areas.
From 1968 to 1972, Mr. Dunn was Associate Patent Counsel for Dart Industries, Paramus, New Jersey, handling a complete range of patent responsibilities in chemical, mechanical and electrical art areas. From 1972 to 1974, he served as a Patent Attorney for Allied Chemical Co., Inc., again handling a complete range of patent responsibilities, primarily in the chemical arts area. Mr. Dunn entered private practice in 1974, founding the law firm of Dunn & Associates, a preeminent Western New York law firm, with an extensive practice in all area of intellectual property law, including domestic and worldwide patent and trademark prosecution, oppositions, interferences, re-examinations, licensing, opinions and litigation. Mr. Dunn has prepared or prosecuted approximately 500 United States Patent applications that have issued as Patents and has prepared and/or supervised the prosecution of thousands of applications for other countries. During his career, Mr. Dunn has represented no fewer than a dozen different Fortune 500 companies in intellectual property law in numerous technological art areas.
Mr. Dunn received a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry with minors in physics, mathematics and French from Indiana University in 1962 and a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Houston in 1968. He has completed numerous additional courses and seminars in electronics, computer technology, biochemistry, genetic engineering, anatomy and physiology, microbiology and nutrition. He has attended German courses at Dartmouth College and at the Goethe Institute in Germany.
Michael Dunn is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, Texas, and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is also admitted to practice before the Federal District Court for the Western District of New York, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Erie County Bar Association, the Lockport Bar Association and the Niagara Frontier Intellectual Property Law Association, where he is a Past President and Incorporator.
